We are delighted to invite Scientists, Academicians, Researchers, Medical Professionals, Safety and Regulatory Authorities involved in Environment and Health to participate in the “International Conference on Environmental Mutagenesis, Carcinogenesis & Health and 40th Annual Meeting of Environmental Mutagen Society of India (EMSI)” to be held at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, India during February 17 to 19, 2016.
The aim of this Conference is to bring together leading scientists, researchers and students to discuss and deliberate on their research findings in the field of environmental mutagenesis and carcinogenesis with focus on understanding the relation between environmental factors, DNA mutations and cancer and to find ways and means to protect ourselves from such damaging effects of environmental mutagens and carcinogens.
The harmful effects of environmental pollutants on human health and ecosystem are being focussed as important research areas at national and global level. Mutagenesis is the biological response in the genome after exposure to the environmental toxicants and stressers. The enormous progress made on the human genome project and human cancer genome project have led to the application of tools from the fields of genomics, proteomics and bioinformatics for the identification and validation of novel cancer molecular targets. In current drug discovery approaches, combination drugs and multitargeted molecules are the preferred choices to control complex diseases. The rapid growth of robust biotechnological and analytical techniques gives a ray of hope in plant based drug discovery approach. Herbal drugs constitute a major share of all the officially recognized systems of health in India viz. Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, Homeopathy, Naturopathy and even Allopathy. Botanicals offer strong therapeutic efficacy with minimal side effects. The plants develop complex chemical arsenals and survive against the myriad of attacks by insects, fungi, viruses and bacteria. In view of this scenario, the present era is witnessing a fascinating rejuvenation in the traditional system of medicine. We look forward to provide various interactive sessions for exchange of new knowledge and discussion on different dimensions of environmental mutagenesis, carcinogenesis and health.
We sincerely hope that you will accept our invitation and make an important contribution to the scientific program of this Conference. We are sure that you will enjoy the scientific feast, a blissful visit to the ‘Golden Temple’ as well as the traditional hospitality and cultural attraction of the Amritsar city and the state of Punjab.
